Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
Aug. 26, Deputy Todd Chilton took a burglary complaint in the Jefferson area. The complainant stated that sometime between Aug. 22-26, someone(s) kicked in his back door and stole a Husqvarna chainsaw – approximate value of $400 and a black/yellow Dewalt Sawzall – approximately value of $100. Further investigation to follow.
Aug. 24, Mark Hayward, 51, of Jefferson was arrested for criminal mischief, on Atkins Road, Jefferson, by Deputy Todd Chilton.
Aug. 27, Meagan M. Dobson, 22, of Portland was arrested for operating under the influence, on Church Street, Damariscotta, by Deputy Kevin Dennison.
Aug. 28, Charles Scavetta, 22, of Damariscotta was arrested for violating condition of release, on Main Street, Newcastle, by Deputy Kevin Dennison.
Aug. 28, Jacob Walmer, 23, of Edgecomb was arrested for leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident and violating condition of release, on Rt. 1, Edgecomb, by Deputy Matthew Day.
Aug. 29, Kristen J. Holmes-Yattaw, 37, of Waldoboro was arrested for operating after suspension -prior and violating condition of release, on Rockland Road, Whitefield, by Deputy Scott Hayden.
Aug. 31, Joseph Cappelletti, 60, of Damariscotta was arrested for operating under the influence – one prior and operating after suspension, on Rt. 1, Wiscasset, by Deputy Kevin Dennison.
On Aug. 24, an accident occurred on Washington Road in Jefferson involving Viola I. Stone, 64, of Waldoboro. Stone was traveling east when a deer entered the roadway and struck the front end of her vehicle. Stone’s 1998 Jeep utility vehicle sustained an estimated $1000 in damage. Deputy Todd Chilton was the investigating officer.
On Aug. 25, an accident occurred on Barters Island Road in Boothbay involving Joan N. Hodgdon, 74, of Boothbay and James B. Locke, II, 28, of Boothbay. Locke was traveling northbound and Hodgdon was stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of Sawyers Island Road and Barter Island Road. Hodgdon attempted to turn right and Locke came over the small hill just south of the intersection and both vehicles collided. Hodgdon’s 2005 Cadillac sustained an estimated $2000 in damage and Locke’s 1998 Dodge van sustained an estimated $1500 in damage. Deputy Scott Hayden was the investigating officer.
On Aug. 25, an accident occurred on Gardiner Road in Wiscasset involving Jon C. Magoun, 69, of South Paris and Myra Lane, 39, of Nobleboro. Magoun was following Lane’s vehicle westbound when she slowed to make a left hand turn onto Hooper Road. Lane advised she put her left signal on, but Magoun advised he did not see the signal and believed Lane was going to turn right. Magoun then passed Ms. Lane on the left as she turned and both vehicles collided. Magoun’s 2006 Dodge van sustained an estimated $3500 in damage and Lane’s 2002 Buick sustained an estimated $5000 in damage. Deputy Scott Hayden was the investigating officer.
On Aug. 25, an accident occurred on Bath Road in Wiscasset involving Gayle L. Enzel-Gurvey, 51, of Anguilla and William W. Behrens, 60, of Camden. Enzel-Gurvey was stopped in traffic northbound, near Flood Avenue. Behrens was traveling northbound behind Enzel-Gurvey’s vehicle. Behrens stated he saw traffic in front of him stopped but was unable to stop his vehicle. As a result, he struck Enzel-Gurvey’s vehicle from behind. Enzel-Gurvey’s 2020 Chevrolet sustained an estimated $3500 in damage and Mr. Behrens’ 1994 Toyota pickup truck sustained an estimated $900 in damage. Major Ken Mason was the investigating officer.
On Aug. 25, an accident occurred on South Clary Road in Jefferson involving Brenda Williams, 60, of Jefferson. Williams was traveling southbound when she observed a tree blocking the roadway. She attempted to stop and avoid the tree by traveling to the left, but she was unable to avoid striking the end of the tree with the bottom of her vehicle. She also hit a branch with the top of her vehicle. Williams’ 2006 Chrysler sustained an estimated $6000 in damage. Deputy Matthew Day was the investigating officer.
On Aug. 27, an accident occurred on Rt. 1 in Edgecomb involving Jacob Walmer, 23, of Edgecomb and Richard Glidden, 77, of Waldoboro. Walmer failed to give the right of way entering into traffic from Eddy Road onto Rt. 1 and struck Glidden’s vehicle. Walmer’s 2000 Dodge utility vehicle sustained an estimated $300 in damage and Glidden’s 2003 Chevrolet sustained an estimated $1000 in damage. Deputy Matthew Day was the investigating officer.
On Aug. 27, an accident occurred on Rt. 27 in Edgecomb involving Terry L. Ross, 49, of Edgecomb and Leslie Abraham, 56, of Hartford, N.Y. Abraham was stopped at the intersection of Rt. 27 and Rt. 1, preparing to enter Rt. 1. Ross was traveling behind Abraham. Abraham went forward and stopped for a vehicle and Ross struck the rear of her vehicle. Ross’ 1994 GMC pickup truck sustained no damage and Abraham’s 2006 BMW sustained an estimated $1000 in damage. Deputy Chad Gilbert was the investigating officer.
On Aug. 28, an accident occurred on Rt. 27 in Boothbay involving Tucker Lewis, 16, of Boothbay and Christopher Nielsen, 54, of Contoocook, N.H. Nielsen was traveling north and Lewis was following Nielsen’s vehicle. Nielsen stopped for a vehicle turning left in front of him and Lewis struck the rear of his vehicle. Lewis’ 1990 Cadillac sustained an estimated $1,500 in damage and Nielsen’s 2005 Toyota pickup truck sustained an estimated $800 in damage. Deputy Chad Gilbert was the investigating officer.
On Aug. 30, an accident occurred on Rt. 27 in Dresden involving Leah M. Pomeroi, 26, of Bristol. Pomeroi was traveling northbound when she fell asleep, drove off the road and struck a ditch. Pomeroi’s 2005 Jeep sustained an estimated $7000 in damage. Deputy Chad Gilbert was the investigating officer.
