Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
Feb. 26, Lysette V. Murray, 35, of South Bristol was issued a summons for Improper Pass and a warning for failing to stop for a police officer, on Bristol Road, Bristol, by Deputy Brian Collamore.
On Feb. 25, an accident occurred on Waldoboro Road in Jefferson involving Nathan M. McLaughlin, 25, of Waterville. McLaughlin was traveling south on Augusta Road, approaching the intersection of the Waldoboro Road. Due to extremely poor weather and road conditions, when McLaughlin attempted to stop his 2010 Ford Fusion at the intersection, it slid through the intersection and struck a large snow bank on the opposite side of the road. Lt. Michael Murphy was the investigating officer.
On Feb. 26, an accident occurred on Seawood Park Road in Bristol involving Lynn E. Ring, 67, of Bristol and Robert Benner, 27, of Bristol. Benner was backing out of a private driveway while plowing snow. Due to low hanging tree branches, Benner did not see Ring approaching. Benner stopped his 1993 Chevrolet pickup truck as he entered the roadway to allow Ring to drive her 2006 Chrysler 300 out around the rear of his truck. Ring applied her brakes and was unable to steer out around Mr. Benner’s truck and as a result, Ring struck it. Deputy Brian Collamore was the investigating officer.
On Feb. 26, an accident occurred on Rt. 194 in Newcastle involving James V. Carlton, 62, of Damariscotta. Carlton was traveling southbound, just south of the Alna town line when he lost traction on the slush/snow covered roadway and began skidding. Carlton’s 2000 Chevrolet then crossed the center line and left the roadway and struck a tree. Deputy Scott Hayden was the investigating officer.
On Feb. 27, an accident occurred on Rt. 1 in Edgecomb involving Michael P. Musolff, 27, of Phippsburg and Margaret S. Hampson, 68, of Newcomb, N.Y. Musolff was following Hampson southbound on Rt. 1 in Edgecomb on Davis Island. Hampson slowed for traffic ahead and Musolff advised he was distracted by his radio/cd and did not see Hampson slow down. As a result, Musolff struck Hampson in the passenger rear side. Musolff was operating a 1997 Dodge Intrepid and Hampson was operating a 1999 Chrysler Town and Country sedan. Deputy Scott Hayden was the investigating officer.
On Feb. 27, an accident occurred on Main Street in Newcastle involving Nicholas A. Hatch, 21, of Waldoboro and Dawn D. Arnold, 32, of Damariscotta. Arnold’s 2000 Volvo S70 was parked unoccupied in the ComeFIT Zone parking lot. Hatch, who was operating a 1993 Ford E350 pickup truck, began backing from a parking spot and struck Arnold’s vehicle in the passenger side. Deputy Scott Hayden was the investigating officer.
