Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following activity:
Sept. 27, Deputy Todd Chilton was dispatched to a theft complaint in the Edgecomb area. The complainant stated that he noticed he was missing five firearms from his gun cabinet in his residence. Total value of the firearms is approximately $3600 dollars. Further investigation will follow.
Arrests/summonses
Sept. 16, Stephen W. Brown, 63, of Clinton, was issued a summons for motor vehicle speeding: 30-plus mph over the speed limit, on Gardiner Road, Dresden, by Deputy Kevin Dennison.
Sept. 28, David N. Wallace, 43, of Alna, was arrested for operating after suspension with a prior offense and for an outstanding Wiscasset District Court warrant for unpaid fines, on Rt. 1, Edgecomb, by Sgt. Jason Nein.
Oct. 2, Taylor M. Russell, 28, of Boothbay, was arrested for criminal mischief and violating condition of release, on Country Club Road, Boothbay, by Deputy Scott Hayden who was assisted by Boothbay Harbor Officer Richard Mirabile.
Accidents
Sept. 27, an accident occurred on Academy Hill in Newcastle involving Justin H. Wallace, 21, of Damariscotta. Wallace was operating his 1998 Jeep Cherokee northbound on Academy Hill Road when he entered the shoulder and continued into the ditch. His vehicle then struck a tree on the passenger’s side and continued down the embankment. He then struck three small trees, knocking them over and coming to rest on top of the trees. Deputy Kevin Dennison was the investigating officer.
Oct. 10, an accident occurred on Egypt Road in Jefferson involving Travis Sapp, 20, of Jefferson. Sapp was operating his 1995 Ford F150 pickup truck southbound when a deer entered the roadway from the north and crossed in front of him. He attempted to avoid the deer and steered hard right onto the soft shoulder. Sapp attempted to steer out of the soft shoulder and over-corrected, which caused his vehicle to cross the centerline, through the westbound lane and enter the westbound ditch, striking a tree on the driver’s side door. He then placed his vehicle into four-wheel drive, pulled out of the tree/ditch and drove another .5 miles before his vehicle could not be operated any longer. Deputy Mark Bridgham was the investigating officer.
