Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
On Dec. 27, Deputy Brent Barter received a complaint of criminal mischief to a mailbox on Bog Road in Dresden. While responding and investigating this complaint, Deputy Barter found damage to five other mailboxes in the area. Further investigation if leads develop.
On Dec. 29, Deputy Matthew Day responded to a report of Criminal Mischief in the Somerville area. The complainant stated that around 7:25 p.m., she heard a loud smash and after looking around, she found a double pane window broken in her storage room. Approximate replacement value is $200. There are no suspects at this time.
Jan. 1, Ry L. Nelson, 29, of Nobleboro was arrested for operating under the influence and possession of marijuana, on Academy Hill Road, Newcastle, by Deputy Kevin Dennison.
On Dec. 31, an accident occurred on Henry Lane in Whitefield involving Steven E. Young, 64, of Whitefield. Young was operating his 2009 Suzuki SX4 westbound when he slid off the roadway due to icy road conditions. Young’s vehicle went down in a ditch, up an embankment and rolled onto its side. Deputy Chad Gilbert was the investigating officer.
On Dec. 31, an accident occurred on Rockland Road in Jefferson involving Andrew J. Malcomb, 38, of Lunenburg, Mass. Malcomb was operating his 2005 Ford Ranger when he hit a patch of ice, lost control of his vehicle and entered a ditch. His vehicle then rolled over and came to rest on the driver’s side. Deputy Kevin Dennison was the investigating officer.
On Jan. 1, an accident occurred on Main Road on Westport Island involving Casey Q. Cummings, 21, of Westport Island. Cummings was operating his 2003 Honda CRV southbound when he lost control on black ice and skidded off the roadway, striking some ledges. Det. Sgt. Kenneth Hatch was the investigating officer.
On Jan. 1, an accident occurred on South Clary Road in Jefferson involving Irina Luksic, 43, of Jefferson. Luksic was operating her 1999 Dodge Caravan when she observed a deer enter the road from the southbound ditch. The deer entered the northbound lane and she struck the deer, which continued on into the woods. Deputy Kevin Dennison was the investigating officer.
