Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
On Nov. 27, Deputy Justin Drake took a report of criminal mischief to a business in the Edgecomb area. The complainant stated that when they were opening their store they could smell the odor of propane. After contacting their fuel supplier and having their tanks inspected, it appeared that someone(s) had tampered with the tanks, which resulted in a fuel leak. Investigation to continue as new leads develop.
On Nov. 28 Deputy Kevin Dennison received a complaint that fuel from a generator and four wheeler had been stolen in the Westport Island area. The complainant stated that both items were full of gas the week before Thanksgiving and when an attempt was made to use the four wheeler, it was found to be low on gas. The complainant checked his generator and found that too was missing fuel from the tank. Further investigation to follow if leads develop.
Nov. 24, Jeffery P. Luce, 34, of Whitefield was arrested on outstanding Knox County warrants for wildlife violations, on Rt. 1, Newcastle, by Deputy Brian Collamore.
Nov. 29, Samantha A. Deckard, 27, of Jefferson was arrested for domestic violence assault, on Travel Pond Lane, Jefferson, by Deputy Kenneth Hatch.
Dec. 1, Caroline R. Hyson, 27, of South Bristol was arrested for operating under the influence, one prior, on Fort Road, Edgecomb, by Deputy Justin Drake.
On Nov. 28, an accident occurred on Bristol Road in Bristol involving Christy E. Toman, 34, of Bristol. Toman was operating her 2005 Nissan Xterra southbound, traveling up Hunter’s Hill, when she encountered a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed down the hill heading northbound. Toman stated she hit the brakes as this vehicle got close causing her to lose control. As a result, her vehicle then left the roadway, crossed the northbound lane and went into the woods and rolled onto the passenger side. Deputy Matthew Day was the investigating officer.
On Nov. 28, an accident occurred on Rt. 194 in Whitefield involving Elizabeth Heath, 30, of Whitefield. Heath was operating her 2007 Ford F-150 eastbound when a deer ran out in front of her vehicle and was struck, causing front passenger side damage. Deputy Scott Hayden was the investigating officer.
On Nov. 29, an accident occurred on Augusta Road in Jefferson involving Natasha J. Manning, 22, of Ellsworth. Manning was operating her 2002 Nissan Frontier northbound when she lost control of her vehicle on the snow covered roadway. As a result, her vehicle traveled across the center line and came to rest in a ditch on the left side of the roadway. Deputy Kenneth Hatch was the investigating officer.
On Nov. 29, an accident occurred on Rt. 130 in Bristol involving Randy W. Bryant, 60, of Bristol and Nancy Jean, 56, of Bristol. Bryant was operating his 2003 Chevrolet S10 northbound. Jean, operating her 2007 Dodge Caliber, was attempting to enter upon Rt. 130 from a private driveway, traveling south. Jean failed to yield to Bryant’s vehicle as she entered upon the public way. Bryant attempted to enter the southbound lane in an attempt to avoid striking Jean’s vehicle, however, he was unable to avoid the collision. Bryant’s vehicle continued traveling north back into the northbound lane and ditch area before rolling onto its side and striking a ledge. Lt. Rand Maker was the investigating officer.
On Nov. 29, an accident occurred on Bristol Road in Bristol involving Jacqueline P. Williams, 55, of Bremen. Williams was operating her 2004 GMC westbound and due to some black ice, she lost control of her vehicle, crossed the eastbound travel lane and struck an embankment. Deputy Brian Collamore was the investigating officer.
On Nov. 30, an accident occurred on Rt. 1 in Nobleboro involving Evelyn M. Twist, 48, of Wiscasset. Twist was operating her 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser southbound when a large cat entered the roadway from the west. Twist was unable to avoid striking the cat, which then ran off. Deputy Matthew Day was the investigating officer.
On Dec. 1, an accident occurred on Rt. 1 in Newcastle involving Douglas Ludwig, 59, of Newcastle. Ludwig was outside of his 2000 GMC 2500 on the shoulder of the road. He stated that he was out of the vehicle because he was picking up something on the side of the road when he heard a noise and noticed his truck had gone off the road, down the embankment, through a small stream and struck several small trees. Ludwig stated he may have forgotten to put the truck in gear. Reserve Deputy Richard Woodward was the investigating officer.
On Dec. 1, an accident occurred on Upper Round Pond Road in Bristol involving Brandi A. Bryant, 18, of Bristol and Frederick D. Gosbee, 63, of Round Pond. Bryant was operating her 2001 Ford F-150 westbound as Gosbee was pulling out of a driveway in his 2001 Subaru Forester and Bryant struck the front of Gosbee’s vehicle. Reserve Deputy Richard Woodward was the investigating officer.
On Dec. 1, an accident occurred on Back River Road in Boothbay involving Anastasia M. Giles, 36, of Boothbay. Giles was operating her 2000 Subaru Legacy on Back River Road when she slid on some ice and ran off the road. Reserve Deputy Jennifer Sherman was the investigating officer.
On Dec. 3, an accident occurred on Biscay Road in Bremen involving Shelby G. Robbins, 19, of Bristol. Ms. Robbins was operating her 1999 Pontiac southbound when she lost control of her vehicle on the soft shoulder. As a result, her vehicle rotated 180 degrees and left the roadway where it then struck a rock ledge and came to rest back in the roadway. Sgt. Brendan Kane was the investigating officer.
