Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
On Sept. 26, Deputy Matthew Day took a report of the theft of a road sign “Meadow Lane” in the Bristol area. It will cost approximately $20 to replace the sign.
On Sept. 27, Deputy Chad Gilbert took a report of the theft of scrap metal in the Somerville area. The complainant stated that sometime the previous evening, someone(s) took hydraulic rams (approximate value: $450) from their property. Further investigation to follow if leads develop.
On Sept. 28, Reserve Deputy Richard Woodward was dispatched to a report of a burglary in the Edgecomb area. The complainant stated that someone(s) entered her residence and stole a 10-year-old gas stove ($200); 12 foot aluminum boat ($500) and a Stihl 16″ chainsaw – orange ($200). Further investigation to follow if leads develop.
On Sept. 30, Deputy Kenneth Hatch took a report of the theft of an Apple MacBook Pro laptop (value: $2000) and jewelry (value: $1000) in the Westport Island area. Further investigation to follow.
Sept. 27, a 16-year-old male from Newcastle was issued a summons for possession of tobacco products by a minor, at Lincoln Academy, Newcastle, by Deputy Mark Bridgham.
Sept. 25, Maurice L. Hyson, 33, of Jefferson was arrested on a warrant out of York County for violating condition of release, on North Clary Road, Jefferson, by Det. Sgt. Ronald Rollins.
Sept. 28, Toby J. Davis, 36, of Montville was arrested on a warrant out of Kennebec County Superior Court at Two Bridges Regional Jail, Wiscasset, by Reserve Deputy Mark Walsh.
Sept. 28, Christian Matthews, 21, of Dresden was arrested for operating after habitual offender revocation-prior; driving to endanger and violating condition of release (x2), on Orchard Hill Road, Dresden, by Deputy Todd Chilton.
On Sept. 25, an accident occurred on Route 32 in Bristol involving John F. Hoover, 70, of Lewisburg, Penn. and Lewis J. Morton, 70, of New Harbor. Hoover was backing his 2011 Ford Fusion out of his driveway onto Route 32 when he backed in front of Morton’s 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck, which was traveling northbound. Morton was unable to avoid striking Hoover’s vehicle in the rear. Deputy Matthew Day was the investigating officer.
On Sept. 26, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Newcastle involving Byron D. Stuhlman, 72, of Round Pond and Mackenzie Simpson, 28, of Casco. Stuhlman was operating his 2002 Honda Civic southbound and was turning left into the Sherman Lake rest area, while Simpson was operating his 2003 Mercedes-Benz northbound. Stuhlman failed to notice Simpson’s vehicle and turned in front of him, causing Stuhlman to strike Simpson’s vehicle. Deputy Chad Gilbert was the investigating officer.
On Sept. 26, an accident occurred on Bristol Road in Bristol involving Ilene B. Ford, 52, of New Harbor. Ford was operating her 2003 Ford Explorer southbound when a deer entered the roadway and was struck. Deputy Todd Chilton was the investigating officer.
On Sept. 28, an accident occurred on Bog Road in Dresden involving Monica L. Wahl, 31, of Bath. Wahl was attempting to avoid a deer in the roadway when she lost control of her 1999 GMC Yukon and went off the road, causing underside damage to her vehicle. Sgt. Alan Shea was the investigating officer.
