Sheriff Todd Brackett reports the following:
On July 30, Sgt. Jason Nein received a report of a burglary and theft at a residence in the Boothbay area. The complainant stated that she returned home to find approximately $55 missing from her residence. Further investigation to follow if leads develop.
On July 30, Deputy First Class Mark Bridgham responded to a report of a theft by deception in the Dresden area. This case is currently under investigation.
On July 28, Deputy First Class Brian Collamore was dispatched to a report of a bike found in the town of Bristol. The bicycle is described as a red, smaller-sized Mongoose and it is unclear how long it has been on the side of the road. Deputy Collamore transported the bicycle to the sheriff’s office for safekeeping.
On Aug. 3, Deputy Joel Seekins responded to a report of a theft of a Stihl 59 cc, 4.5-horsepower chainsaw with a 50-inch blade – value: $800, from a residence in the Whitefield area. Further investigation to follow.
July 30, Robert Reed, 69, of Southport, was issued a summons for assault, on Hendricks Hill Road, Southport, by Deputy First Class Bridgham.
July 29, Dwayne B. Bates, 26, of Windsor was arrested on a probation hold by Richmond Police, on behalf of Deputy First Class Bridgham. While at Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset, Bates was issued a summons for harassment by telephone by Deputy Bridgham.
Aug. 1, Timothy M. Barbeau, 40, of Whitefield, was arrested for violating condition of release, domestic violence reckless conduct, and criminal mischief, on Devin Road, Whitefield, by Deputy Seekins.
Aug. 1, Terry G. Holmes, 53, of Boothbay, was arrested for violating condition of release, on Back Narrows Road, Boothbay, by Deputy Caleb Poirier.
On July 30, an accident occurred on Route 17 in Jefferson involving Peter R. Anderson, 68, of Liberty. Anderson was operating his 1982 GMC Sierra northbound. When he came to the intersection of Route 32 and Route 17, he attempted to stop, however, his brakes malfunctioned and he went through the stop sign, crossed Route 17, and went into a ditch. Deputy Gilbert was the investigating officer.
On July 30, an accident occurred on North Newcastle Road in Newcastle involving Thomas J. Chadwick, 21, of Alna. Chadwick was operating his 2001 Ford F-150 westbound when he became distracted and looked away from the road for a second. As a result, his vehicle went off the right side of the roadway and struck a CMP pole. Deputy First Class Collamore was the investigating officer.
On July 30, an accident occurred on Hinks Road in Jefferson involving Derek P. Brotherton, 23, of Jefferson. Brotherton was operating his 2003 Subaru Legacy southbound when he lost control of his vehicle on the wet road. As a result, his vehicle crossed the centerline and entered the ditch. Reserve Deputy Michael Elwell was the investigating officer.
On July 30, an accident occurred on Blinn Hill Road in Dresden involving Adrien F. Miner, 16, of West Gardiner. Miner was operating his 2003 Dodge 1500 northbound when due to rain and the roadway being wet, as well as his vehicle having rear tires not meeting inspection standards, he lost control of his vehicle and went down an embankment. His vehicle then struck a tree and came to rest. Deputy First Class Collamore was the investigating officer.
On July 31, an accident occurred on Vannah Road in Nobleboro involving Travis R. Cost, 27, of Nobleboro, and Paul R. MacDonald Jr., 47, of Middleborough, Mass. Cost, who was operating his 2005 Suzuki motorcycle, entered the corner too fast and laid his motorcycle on its side. MacDonald, who was operating his 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, saw Cost’s motorcycle coming at him and attempted to pull to the far right into the ditch to avoid a collision, however, Cost’s motorcycle struck his vehicle. Reserve Deputy Elwell was the investigating officer.
On Aug. 2, an accident occurred on Route 1 in Edgecomb involving Howard E. Spaulding, 76, of Brunswick; Bonnie Polson, 61, of Fresno, Calif.; and an unknown vehicle. Spaulding, who was operating his 2011 Lincoln, and Polson, who was operating her 2015 Jeep, were in stop-and-go traffic, heading southbound, on Route 1 in Edgecomb. The unknown operator of the third vehicle was traveling northbound when he or she crossed the centerline and sideswiped Spaulding and Polson’s vehicles. The other vehicle was unable to be located. Deputy Ryan Chubbuck was the investigating officer.

July 21, Michael McAtee, 51, of Alna, speeding 59 mph in a posted 45 mph speed zone, Route 1, Damariscotta, Deputy First Class Bridgham.
July 24, Kirk Alexander, 42, of Richmond, speeding 44 mph in a posted 35 mph speed zone, Route 27, Dresden, Deputy First Class Bridgham.
Julian Aponte, 18, of West Boothbay Harbor, failure to show proof of insurance, failure to stop at a stop sign, Main Street, Newcastle, Deputy Poirier.
July 29, Timothy Butler, 58, of Litchfield, speeding 74 mph in a posted 45 mph speed zone, Route 126, Jefferson, Deputy Gilbert.
July 30, Donna Marble, 43, of Thomaston, speeding 71 mph in a posted 45 mph speed zone, failure to show proof of insurance, Route 32, Jefferson – Reserve Deputy Elwell.
July 31, Mary Field, 72, of South Bristol, speeding 59 mph in a posted 50 mph speed zone, Route 129, South Bristol, Deputy First Class Bridgham.
