Lincoln Theater installed a digital cinema projector Jan. 31, a major upgrade in technology from the two 1940s-era 35 mm film projectors previously in place.
The upgrade will allow the Damariscotta theater to resume showing first-run movies, and it plans to start with what Executive Director Steve Hatch calls “‘Lincoln’ at the Lincoln.”
“Lincoln,” the Steven Spielberg drama nominated for 12 Academy Awards, including best picture, actor and director, is “the perfect kickoff movie” for the new equipment, Hatch said.
“Why should people have to travel to Brunswick and Rockland when we have the Lincoln Theater here?” he said.
“Lincoln” will play Sat., Feb.2 and Sun., Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. and Weds., Feb. 6 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
