State Police say skeletal remains found in Lisbon Center on the afternoon of Dec. 3 may be those of Christiana Fesmire of Lewiston, who has been missing since July of 2011.
According to an 18-page affidavit filed in Androscoggin County Superior Court, police alleged Buddy Robinson, 30, of Lewiston drowned Fesmire in a bathtub July 1 and subsequently disposed of her body in “a swampy area” after carrying it more than two miles off a paved road.
In August 2011, Fesmire’s mother, Deborah Fesmire, told The Lincoln County News she and Christiana’s father, Chester Fesmire, last saw their daughter in June when she spent two nights at the family’s home in Bremen. Chester Fesmire drove Christiana back to her home in Lewiston during the early afternoon, June 30.
The affidavit states that at one time Robinson and Fesmire were both residents of a two-unit apartment house on Highland Avenue in Lewiston.
Robinson was found guilty Nov. 16 after the jury spent a little more than an hour in deliberations.
Robinson pleaded not guilty, following his Oct. 13, 2011 arrest in New Gloucester. His attorney, Edward Dilworth claimed the prosecution did not have any “physical or direct piece of evidence” to prove the charge.
Lewiston and Lisbon Police were involved in the recovery of the remains along a trail about 200 feet off the road, near the intersection of Wagg and Ferry Roads. The discovery was made about 1 p.m.
Police planned to secure the scene for the night and the recovery efforts were scheduled to continue Wednesday morning, Dec. 5. A press release said the remains would be transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Augusta, where work will begin to establish positive identification.
