A dog that has been on the loose in the downtown area of Waldoboro is causing concerns among residents and authorities.
The Waldoboro Police Dept., which has been searching for the dog with the Waldoboro Animal Control Officer, has been unable to confirm reports that the animal is a wolf hybrid.
The animal is described by Ted Wooster, who personally observed the dog, as the same size and build as a German Shepard, mostly black in color with a few small brown markings. Wooster used the term “mangy” to describe the dog’s physical condition.
Wooster believes the animal is responsible for killing four chickens at his Main St. residence during the overnight hours on Saturday. He also stated that the dog behaved aggressively toward his grown son Luke when the two crossed paths on Sunday morning.
At the time of this posting, there are no other known reports regarding the animal acting aggressively. An officer with the Waldoboro Police Dept. described the animal as “shy” when observed by authorities.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of this animal is urged to contact the Waldoboro Police Dept. or the Lincoln County Communications Center at 832-4500.
