A Wiscasset woman accused of dealing heroin will return to jail after allegedly admitting to bail violations during a traffic stop in Damariscotta Nov. 5.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Ken Hatch stopped Allina Diaz, 27, for “a report of an erratic vehicle” Wednesday afternoon, Damariscotta Police Chief Ron Young said.
Diaz “admitted that if she did a test she would test positive for opiates, for heroin,” Young said. “She had (hypodermic) needles; she had alcohol in her car.”
Alcohol possession and a positive test for heroin would both represent violations of her bail conditions, according to Young. “She’s used heroin in the last week, which is a clear violation,” he said.
Individuals can legally possess less than 10 hypodermic needles, so Diaz will not face charges for possession of the needles. “They’re brand new needles,” Young said. “They don’t have anything in them.”
Damariscotta Officer Erick Halpin arrested Diaz for violation of condition of release.
A Lincoln County grand jury indicted Diaz Sept. 9 on a class A charge of aggravated trafficking in schedule W drugs and a class C charge of illegal importation of scheduled drugs, both felonies.
A class A charge carries a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison; a class C charge a maximum penalty of five years in prison.
