The Maine Eastern Railroad has announced cancellation of their excursion train schedule from Friday through Sunday due to the potential for storm damage from hurricane Earl. The railroad runs from Brunswick to Rockland and has a stop at Wiscasset.
“Because of the likely possibility of heavy clean up of wind-fallen trees and debris along the line, as well as a high number of advance reservation cancellations, Maine Eastern Railroad has cancelled the excursion schedule for this weekend,” said Gordon Page, Maine Eastern Railroad Director of Passenger Operations. The cancellation days are Fri., Sept. 3, Sat., Sept. 4, and Sun., Sept. 5.
“Reservations are always a good idea prior to boarding, to provide the railroad a method of contacting passengers in the event of these types of rare cancellations,” Page added.
