Mainely Sewing, a popular Nobleboro based business, has opened a second store on Water Street in Wiscasset next to Reds Eats. According to Wiscasset store manager Julie Stegna, the second location will be similar to the first with a complete inventory of sewing materials in stock and ready for purchase.
“This includes kits, fabric, and of course needles,” said Stegna. “We have quilts on display too and can help everyone from beginners to the more advanced.”
Unlike the Nobleboro location, the Wiscasset store will not offer sewing classes but Stegna said that is subject to change. By opening a second retail store, the company hopes to serve a greater part of Lincoln County, which boasts an active community of quilters, Stegna said.
“We see all types of people,” said Stegna. “Women and men, young and old; it really runs the gamut.”
The company is also an authorized dealer of Janome sewing machines and features hard to find fabrics. The Wiscasset location, which opened May 27, has the added benefit of a desirable spot next to Maine’s most famous red shack of fried summer treats.
“While the husbands eat lobster rolls at Reds, the wives can sneak down here,” said Stegna.
Mainely Sewing is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. For more information call 563-8445 or visit www.mainelysewing.com.
