The driver of a tractor-trailer that rolled off the side of Middle Road (Rt. 127) in Dresden Monday morning was LifeFlighted for his injuries, according to Major Ken Mason of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
Mason said the identity of the driver is being withheld until his family is notified.
“Speed was definitely a factor, but we don’t know about anything else,” Mason said.
The vehicle came to rest on its roof, and the frame of the truck appeared to be twisted.
No information is currently available about the man’s condition or where he was taken for treatment. Dresden Fire Department Assistant Chief Steve Lilly said the man was conscious but disoriented when he was removed from the cab of the truck.
“We pretty much had to break down the truck piece by piece” to extricate the driver, said Lilly.
“Everyone worked well together,” Lilly said. “All the minds came together and worked out a plan to get him out safely.”
A page for the accident went out to Dresden Fire Department at approximately 11:30 a.m. Fire departments from Wiscasset and Richmond also responded to the scene.
Maine State Police Trooper Mark Barney responded to the scene to take a look at the truck involved in the accident. “They specialize in heavy trucks and we don’t,” Mason said.
