With 72.5% of votes cast, Bruce Skinner, of Carver, Mass., won the August #LCNme365 photo contest with a photo from a recent hiking trip.
Skinner, a professional photographer as well as a director of tech support and QA for a software company, snapped the photo in early July during a visit to the family cottage on Biscay Pond in Bristol. He and his wife, Christina, decided to go on a hike at LaVerna Preserve and he brought his DSLR camera along for the trip.
“It’s been a place I’ve been wanting to hike for years, and we finally had the chance,” Skinner said.
Though his business, Hyperion Photography, tends to focus more on senior portraits for high school students at this time of year, Skinner said he loves event and landscape photography. He regularly enters the #LCNme365 photo contest, but this was his first time winning either a weekly or monthly contest.
In addition to having his photo featured on the front page of The Lincoln County News, Skinner will receive a $50 gift certificate to the Newcastle Publick House, the sponsor of the August contest.
As the eighth monthly winner, Skinner cannot win another weekly or monthly contest in 2019, but he can still submit photos for inclusion in the weekly slideshow of entries at lcnme.com.
Skinner’s photo will compete against the other 11 monthly winners at the end of the year as voters select the winner for 2019.
Submissions are now being accepted for the August #LCNme365 contest. The winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to a local business from the monthly sponsor, Farrin Properties. For full rules and means of entry, go to lcnme.com/photo-contest.
