A Massachusetts woman drowned during a guided scuba-diving excursion off Monhegan Island Saturday, Aug. 9.
Anna Krowczynska, 61, of Chelmsford, and four other divers were diving from the Lady Anne, a charter boat out of Wayne, according to a Maine Marine Patrol press release. Sea Ventures Charters owner Dave Sinclair operates the boat.
Krowczynska was diving off the eastern tip of Monhegan in approximately 25 feet of water when she failed to return to the boat.
Another member of the party located her at approximately 12:15 p.m. and brought her to the surface, where members of the party performed CPR.
The Lady Anne transported Krowczynska to Port Clyde, where she was met by local emergency medical personnel and the Maine Marine Patrol and pronounced dead.
The Maine Marine Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances around the drowning.
