A Cape Cod, Mass. woman claimed victory in the April #LCNme365 photo contest with 61 percent of the votes.
Mary Myrick snapped the winning photo of her husband’s cousin, Patti Hamilton, being swarmed by baby goats during a visit to Hamilton Farm in Whitefield in March.
“I love to take photos, so I was using the farm as a photo opportunity,” Myrick said. “When I saw them climbing all over her, it was just a perfect moment. I didn’t realize that baby goats are that affectionate, but they seemed to be with her!”
Myrick snapped the photo with her Sony Mirrorless camera and, after asking Hamilton’s permission, posted the photo on her Instagram account. She had learned of the #LCNme365 photo contest from a comment on one of her previous photographs, so she added the hashtag to the picture’s caption.
Finding out her photo had won was incredibly exciting for Myrick, she said.
“Any time you have a picture that’s recognized and appreciated, it’s a real joy,” Myrick said.
In addition to having her photo featured on the front page of The Lincoln County News, Myrick will receive a $50 gift certificate from April’s contest sponsor, Newcastle Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Viper, of Newcastle.
As the fourth monthly winner, Myrick cannot win another weekly or monthly contest in 2018, but she can still submit photos for inclusion in the weekly slideshow of entries at lcnme.com.
Myrick’s photo will compete against the other 11 monthly winners at the end of the year as voters select the winner for 2018.
Submissions are now being accepted for the May #LCNme365 contest. The winner will receive a $50 gift certificate from the monthly sponsor, Metcalf’s Submarine Sandwiches.
