Medomak Valley High School Athletic Director Matthew Lash told graduating seniors the lessons they learned on the athletic field apply to life in general, when he gave the keynote address at the school’s commencement ceremony, June 5.
Lash was selected to speak by a committee of honors graduates and the graduation committee with input from the rest of the graduating class.
“How do you want to be remembered,” Lash asked the 126 young men and women seated in the front of the packed gymnasium. “Think about that as you enter the next phase of your life.”
Students asked about that next phase spoke of a wide variety of plans that included technical training, academic programs and the military. Honor students comprised nearly one-third of the Class of 2013.
Scholarships and awards given to departing seniors totaled more than $193,000.
