The Medomak Valley High School boys and girls varsity basketball teams defeated Lincoln Academy at home Saturday night, Jan. 31.
The boys won 61-45 behind 20 from Nick DePatsy and 12 from Micah Williamson. Cody Tozier led the Eagles with 20 and Brady Leeman added 11.
Medomak Valley led 11-10 after one and 28-23 at the half. A 9-0 run in the third quarter helped Medomak pull away. Williamson scored six straight points during the run.
Medomak led 46-33 at the beginning of the fourth quarter and built the lead to 20 before Lincoln went on an 8-0 run sparked by a 3-point play by Leeman.
Devin Scherer added a jump shot from the elbow and a 3-pointer to bring Lincoln within 12, but Medomak’s Cameron Allaire scored the final four points of the game.
The girls won 55-52, fending off a fourth-quarter comeback attempt by Lincoln Academy. Medomak’s Hannah Heald led Medomak with 16, while Hannah Marks scored 13 of her 14 in the second half.
Brie Wajer led Lincoln Academy with 16. Kaitlyn Feltis added 10.
Medomak led the entire game. The lead was 13-2 after one and 25-14 at the half. Medomak’s Sophie Cohen banked in a 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer.
Medomak led 38-28 after three, but Lincoln launched a rally in the fourth. Taylor Oliver scored all nine of her points in the period and Danielle Pinkham all five of her points. Feltis added six of her 10 and Wajer scored four.
Lincoln pulled within one, but Marks went 4-for-4 at the foul line in the final 34.9 seconds to seal the win.
