The Rev. Bruce Alexander of Dresden, assisted by White’s Company, a local Revolutionary War Living History group, will lead the assembled to the Court House cemetery for a program of honor for America’s fallen soldiers. A salute at the parade ground will follow the brief service.
Following the ceremonies, the Court House will be open for tours. Visitors can also picnic on the grounds, take a walk on the nature trail along the Kennebec River, or explore the newly refurbished 2-1/2 mile trail system across Route 128 from the Court House entrance.
The parade will cross over Route 1 and follow down Jefferson Street, right on Main Street down the hill to the monument at Pine Street. Veterans from campaigns in World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Dessert Storm, Afghanistan and Iraq wars are invited to participate.
Decorated wreaths will be placed at the Town Office Monument, the Old Library Monument, and The Pine Street Monument. Town Clerk Linda Perry, will carry a wreath in the parade to toss into the Medomak River.
The program will include readings of the letters and performance of Civil War era songs by local musicians.
The observance begins at 10 a.m. at the townhouse, above the town office.
