Nobleboro taxpayers will see a drop in the annual property tax bills they receive this month, after selectmen set the tax rate at $9.80 per thousand dollars of valuation. That is a drop of slightly less than 3 percent.
According to Town Clerk Mary Ellen Anderson, billing information was sent to the company that processes the bills on June 15. She said she expected tax bills to arrive in property owners’ mailboxes by the end of the following week.
At their June 20 meeting, the Nobleboro Board of Selectmen awarded the paving contract for a section of Upper East Pond Road and Morang Cove Road to Marriners Paving of Rockport.
The bid of $76.75 per ton of paving material was the only bid submitted for the work. The town has budgeted $90,000 for the contract. Selectmen said they would meet with road commissioner John York and review the roads to determine how many miles of would be repaired under the contract with Marriners.
The next meeting of the Nobleboro Board of Selectmen will take place on Tues., July 3 at 7 p.m. This is a change from the normal schedule, due to the Independence Day holiday falling on a Wednesday.
