During a brief ceremony July 1, Miles Memorial Hospital was presented a plaque in recognition of sustained superior performance by Maine State Executive Director for Employee Health and Benefits Frank Johnson.
“It’s recognition for many years of excellence,” said Miles Memorial Vice President of Community Relations Scott Schott. “Miles has consistently achieved a blue ribbon standard of service for Maine state employees and the greater population,” he said.
Before presenting the award, Johnson said the state had employed an evaluation process to rank hospital performance for the past five years.
“Ultimately if you receive care from a preferred hospital you had a greater benefit there than [in] another hospital,” Johnson said. “Individually and collectively Maine hospitals are performing better than they were five years ago. Even though we’ve increased the benchmarks, Miles has continued to meet and exceed our expectations.”
Lincoln County Healthcare President Jim Donovan accepted the award on behalf of the entire staff of the hospital.
“It’s a team of doctors and nurses and support staff that make it work,” said Donovan. “It’s also a testament to the level of community support we receive. These are our friends, families, and neighbors.”
Miles Memorial joins Midcoast Hospital in Brunswick as the only area healthcare facilities to be honored by the State Employee Health Commission.
