The driver of a vehicle involved in an accident on Lowelltown Road in Wiscasset the afternoon of July 9 didn’t see the stop sign on Willow Lane and drove into the path of another vehicle, according to Wiscasset Police Sgt. Kathy Williams.
Claudia Giacoma, 54, of Bowdoinham, was operating a blue Subaru Outback on Willow Lane when she failed to see the stop sign and drove into the intersection of Willow Lane, Lowelltown Road, and Indian Road, police said.
While in the intersection, Giacoma’s vehicle was struck by a silver Subaru Forester operated southbound on Lowelltown by Darlene Pendleton, 65, of Dresden, Williams said.
Both vehicles left the roadway and came to rest on a lawn southwest of the intersection, with the silver Forester spinning around to face the opposite direction, Williams said.
Pendleton was transported by Wiscasset Ambulance Service to a hospital with a complaint of neck pain, Williams said, but she was unsure which hospital. There were no other injuries, she said.
Speed and driver inattention were both factors in the accident, Williams said. No summons were issued, she said.
