Franklin A. Poe, 54, a Boothbay man reported missing by his family has been located in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Lt. Michael J. Murphy said Poe was located after he called in to the county communication’s center to report he is not missing and is well.
“It is an odd situation,” Murphy said.
Poe was found after he applied for a position with Meals on Wheels program and told them about his legal problems in Maine. They checked with authorities and declined to hire him.
He called the county communications center last week and said he was fine and wanted to start a new life.
He was reported missing by his wife on April 1. His truck was located in a Brunswick shopping plaza on April 7.
On Feb. 9, he was disbarred after a hearing into allegations he failed to distribute income from a trust to the beneficiaries.
Under the trust, he was required to collect income from the Trailing Yew hotel on Monhegan Island and distribute it to the relatives of the late owner. He was also required to provide an accounting of his financial actions.
According to the disbarment order, Poe made no accounting report or income distribution after 2003. Between 2004 and 2007, he wrote himself more than $70,000 in checks from the account.
The disbarment order, signed by Associate Justice Robert W. Clifford of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court, called his actions “serious and flagrant.”
The matter is also being investigated by the Maine Attorney General’s Office.
