A snowstorm that was originally forecast to pass well south of Lincoln County changed course on Mon. to leaving up to 11 inches of snowfall in the area.
While most of Lincoln County saw 5 to 9 inches of accumulation, the peninsulas were forecast to see 8 to 12 inches, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). A Boothbay resident reported 11 inches while the snow was still falling at noon on Mon.
Schools and some businesses were already closed for the Martin Luther King, Jr. birthday holiday, reducing the amount of traffic on local roads. A relatively small amount of minor traffic accidents were reported, and no power outages were reported in Lincoln County at the time of this posting.
