The Rockland/Thomaston Motor Vehicle Office will relocate at close of business Fri., Nov. 19. The office will move from 212 New County Rd., Thomaston to 360 Old County Road, Suite # 1, Rockland.
As a cost savings measure and to provide better service and accessibility to customers in the Rockland area, the Bureau of Motor Vehicles will relocate to newly renovated office space at 360 Old County Road, Suite #1 in Rockland.
Friday, Nov. 19 will be the last day of operation at the current location and staff will work over the weekend to ensure the new location is open for business at 8 a.m. on Mon., Nov. 22.
“Our current office is too small to effectively serve the public, and given the number of customers that we serve in the Midcoast region, this new facility is a vast improvement and very cost-effective as well,” said Maine Secretary of State Matt Dunlap. “We have to keep our resources in mind when developing improved services, and I think the public will be impressed by the value we’re receiving in this office setting.”
The new location offer more convenient access and parking; improved lobby space and accessibility for customers; a Help Desk located in the lobby area to improve customer service; improved and safer driving routes for exams; upgraded building security; energy efficient building systems and adequate restrooms for customers.
