There were no injuries when a motorcycle drove into the back of a pickup truck on the southbound on-ramp to Route 1 in Newcastle the evening of Friday, Sept. 9.
Scott Colby, 46, of Wiscasset, was stopped in his Chevrolet S-10 waiting to merge onto Route 1, according to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Rand Maker.
Stephen Foye, 63, of North Port, Fla., was riding his 2005 Harley-Davidson behind Colby’s pickup, Maker said. Neither Colby nor Foye had passengers.
Foye was looking at the traffic on Route 1 and did not see that Colby had stopped his vehicle, Maker said. Foye drove into the back of the pickup truck.
Foye is believed to have been following too closely, and driver inattention was a factor in the accident, Maker said.
Central Lincoln County Ambulance Service responded to the scene, however, neither Colby nor Foye reported any injuries, Maker said. Foye was not wearing a helmet.
The rear passenger corner of the pickup and the front part of the motorcycle were damaged, Maker said.
The Newcastle Fire Department also responded to the scene. LCSO Sgt. Matt Day was the investigating officer.
