A motorcycle rider was injured after colliding with a box truck at the intersection of Center St. and Rt. 1 in Nobleboro around 7:30 a.m. Monday.
A man crashed his motorcycle down in the southbound lane of Rt. 1 after colliding with the box truck, according to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Jason Nein, an accident reconstructionist.
The box truck, which Nein said was being used to carry mail, was traveling northbound on Rt. 1. The truck driver was negotiating a left-hand turn onto Center St. when the motorcycle struck the rear passenger side of the truck and eventually came to rest in the southbound lane.
Nein said the truck driver pulled off to the Center St. shoulder and stopped.
“The motorcyclist sustained what appeared to have been broken bones,” Nein said, adding, “but nothing that appeared to be life threatening injuries.”
The Nobleboro Fire Dept. and Damariscotta Police responded to the scene, in addition to Nein and LCSO deputy Peter Kenyon, who was the primary investigating officer.
Southbound Rt. 1 traffic was diverted onto Center St. for roughly an hour while first responders cleared the scene. Further details will be published in the next edition of The Lincoln County News as information becomes available.
