The rider of a motorcycle that crashed near the intersection of Manktown Road and Union Road in Waldoboro the evening of July 8 is listed in critical condition after being
transported to Central Maine Medical Center by LifeFlight helicopter.
Reginald H. Gay Sr., 66, of Windsor, was headed north on Manktown Road when he crashed just prior to entering the intersection, according to Waldoboro Police Chief Bill
Labombarde.
An accident reconstructionist from the Maine State Police assisted at the scene and the investigation into the accident’s cause is ongoing, Labombarde said July 9.
“We don’t believe speed was a factor, and we don’t know about alcohol because we haven’t got the test results back,” Labombarde said.
Gay was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, Labombarde said.
Waldoboro Police, Fire, and EMS all responded to the scene and received assistance from Warren Fire Department in setting up the LifeFlight landing zone at Medomak Valley High
School.
