Damariscotta Police say a man found by the side of Rt. 1 early Monday was “very intoxicated,” but did not require medical attention.
Police officer Jennifer Mitkus said a motorist reported an unidentified man lying down somewhere between the Newcastle exit and N.C. Hunt Building Materials. The individual was initially located by Sgt. Chad Andrews.
Andrews was not the only law enforcement officer to interact with the man.
“Several departments dealt with the man overnight. At about 6:30 a.m., we finally drove him to a shelter in Brunswick,” said Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Rand Maker.
“I am glad the man did not need other treatment. It could have been a lot worse,” he said.
