Waldoboro murder suspect Earl “Buddy” Bieler, 25, is being held without bail and waived his right to a probable cause hearing during a brief hearing in Lincoln County Superior Court Thursday afternoon.
Bieler is accused of murdering 27-year-old Rachel Grindal and attacking 32-year-old Tracy Neild in an assault on Controversy Lane on April 19.
The State would have to prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, the existence of probable cause during a separate hearing, which the defense did not request.
Justice Andrew Horton determined sufficient probable cause exists, having reviewed the affidavit provided by State Police, and scheduled Bieler’s arraignment hearing in Superior Court for May 28 at 2 p.m.
A court appearance for Corinna Durkee, 42, who is also charged with murder, attempted murder and theft as a result of the attack, was postponed. Court officials said her bail hearing has not yet been scheduled.
