The Waldoboro woman arrested Wednesday for the murder of her former boyfriend made her first appearance in Lincoln County Superior Court earlier this afternoon.
Accompanied by defense attorney, Philip S. Cohen, Arline Lawless (aka Seavey), 25, waived the reading of the charges against her. When asked by the judge if she understood the charges and her rights, Lawless confirmed she did.
Prosecutor, Assistant Attorney General Deb Cashman, requested 90 days for discovery.
The attorneys plan to schedule a status conference soon. Lawless will be arraigned after the next grand jury, scheduled to sit Sept. 11-13. She is being held without bail and waived the right to have a bail hearing within five days of her arrest.
