Law enforcement on scene at Medomak Valley High School in Waldoboro said no bomb was found in a search by two members of the Maine State Police K-9 Unit, after a bomb threat prompted the evacuation of the building Nov. 18.
According to Waldoboro Police School Resource Officer Tom Hoepner, a student found the bomb threat written on the wall of a women’s bathroom and reported it to a teacher around 7:20 a.m.
Security footage was reviewed and the approximately six individuals who entered the bathroom that morning were interviewed, Hoepner said.
The evacuation began just after 9:15 a.m., MVHS Principal Harold Wilson said.
The decision to evacuate the building was made based on the threat including the specific date of Nov. 18, Hoepner said.
“The message said that there was a bomb in the school with a specific date, so we had to take that extremely seriously,” said Waldoboro Police Chief Bill Labombarde.
Waldoboro Fire Department, Waldoboro EMS, and other area fire departments assisted at the scene, stationed at a number of areas around the campus.
