A group of neighbors came to the aid of four individuals involved in a car accident in Jefferson on Nov. 23.
Around noon, in the midst of the snowstorm, a mini-van lost control coming down a hill on Rt. 32. They flipped over a guardrail near Woodchuck Way and slid down an embankment into a stream.
Two children in the van got out immediately and were taken to a neighbor’s home to warm up. Two adults needed help getting out of the van when Jefferson emergency crews arrived on scene.
All four were transported by ambulance to Maine General Hospital in Augusta.
Officials at the Jefferson Fire Dept. and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office were unable to immediately produce either the identities of the individuals in the van, or their current condition at press time on Nov. 30.
“I’m hoping to find the names of the neighbors,” said Jefferson Fire Chief Walter Morris, who plans to thank the neighbors when he tracks them down. “If they hadn’t stopped to help, it could have been much more tragic.”
