Maine-ly Pawn has moved to a new location at 535 Main St. in Damariscotta after outgrowing its original location. Business owner Mark Hoffman reopened for business during the first week of January.
Hoffman first opened the business in Damariscotta in December 2013, just down the road from his new location.
“We moved because we outgrew the old building in three months,” Hoffman said.
Maine-ly Pawn’s new location has two buildings and three floors of retail space. The location provides shoppers with three floors of merchandise in the main building and two floors in an adjacent building.
The new location has better parking and more square footage than the original 441 Main St. location, Hoffman said.
Since moving, Hoffman said business is about the same.
“It was crazy there, and it’s crazy here,” he said. “We have had no shortage of people pawning and buying.”
The new location brings a change of hours, according to Hoffman. Maine-ly Pawn is closed Wednesdays and Sundays, but open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. all other days.
“Around May, we will reopen Wednesdays and extend our hours until 6 p.m.,” Hoffman said.
“We’re providing the county a service,” Hoffman said. “People can turn unwanted stuff into cash.”
Maine-ly Pawn invites people to bring anything in to sell. “If I feel like I can sell it, I will buy it,” Hoffman said.
