Find out what’s happening in the Maine lobstering world at the new website: www.mainelandings.org.
The Maine Lobstermen’s Association (MLA) announces the inauguration of the new site, a one-stop-shop for all things lobster.
Find out what’s going on in the realms of science, management and in local harbors. The new site contains the voices of the coast, from lobstermen to biologists, from policy leaders to bait dealers.
“Mainelandings.org provides up-to-date information about the people and businesses that make up the Maine lobstering world. And it will allow the public to voice their own thoughts and opinions about this long-standing industry of our coast,” said Patrice McCarron, executive director of the MLA.
Landings is made possible by a two-year $25,000 grant from the New Voices program of the Institute for Interactive Journalism. The site is designed to facilitate understanding and dialogue among members of the Maine lobstering community and the general public.
The MLA, the state’s oldest lobstering organization, advocates for a sustainable lobster resource and the fishermen and communities that depend on it.
Composed of lobstermen, dealers, and related businesses, the MLA brings the voice of Maine lobstermen to Augusta and beyond as it works to ensure an economically viable fishery for today’s lobstermen and future generations. The organization is located in Kennebunkport and may be reached at 967-4555 or on the web at www.mainelobstermen.org.
