The New Year began with snowfall in Lincoln County, and there’s much more still on the way, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
The first snowfall arrived Fri. afternoon and is forecast to continue – sometimes light, sometimes heavy – all the way through Mon., according to the NWS. The heaviest snowfall is now expected for Sat. night, through Sun. morning, according to the current NWS forecast. Strong winds are also forecast to move in out of the northwest with sustained velocities of 25-35 mph and gusting to 45 mph., according to the NWS. The combination of snow and wind may lead to some power outages.
Lincoln County is under a number of weather advisories issued by the NWS. A Winter Weather Advisory continues until Sat. morning at 7 a.m. when a Winter Storm Watch begins and continues through Sun. afternoon. A Coastal Flood Watch is in effect from Sat. evening through Sun. afternoon.
