A car-pole accident on Pond Road in Newcastle early Wednesday, Dec. 24 resulted in a 64-minute outage for 8,407 customers in nine Lincoln County towns.
“A car hit a pole and broke one of the pieces of equipment that run the large transmission lines,” a Central Maine Power Company employee said.
The outage started at 5:17 a.m. and CMP restored power at 6:21 a.m. The outage affected customers in Bremen, Bristol, Damariscotta, Edgecomb, Jefferson, Newcastle, Nobleboro, South Bristol, and Waldoboro.
Lincoln County Communications paged the Newcastle Fire Department to an accident in the vicinity of 114 Pond Rd. at 12:12 a.m. Details of the accident were not immediately available.
