Newcastle appears likely to have a new selectman and school committee member after the municipal election on Tuesday, June 9.
Edmee Dejean and Chris Doherty are running for two three-year terms on the Newcastle Board of Selectmen. Dejean would replace Pat Hudson, who will step down after nine years on the board. Doherty is running for his second consecutive term.
Dejean is active in town government as a cemetery trustee and a member of the veterans memorial park committee. She represents Newcastle on the Lincoln County Television Board of Directors and serves as recording secretary for the planning board.
Joshua Jacobs is running for a three-year term on the Great Salt Bay School Committee. Jacobs would replace Susan Glueck, who will step down after a year on the committee.
The Great Salt Bay School Committee appointed Glueck June 20, 2014 to fill a vacancy left by William Walton’s resignation.
Allan Ray is running for re-election to the Great Salt Bay Sanitary District Board of Trustees for a three-year term.
The deadline for candidates to file paperwork to appear on the ballot for Newcastle’s municipal election was Monday, April 27. Newcastle voters will elect officers at the River Road fire station from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. June 9.
