David Bolling, the current city manager of Oliver Springs, Tenn., will succeed Newcastle Town Administrator Ron Grenier.
Brian Foote, the chairman of the Newcastle Board of Selectmen, made the announcement at the board’s Jan. 23 meeting.
Bolling has yet to sign a contract, but the town made an offer and Bolling accepted, Foote said.
Foote called Bolling “well-versed in all the aspects of town government,” including economic growth and grant-writing.
The Newcastle Hiring Committee unanimously recommended Bolling, who was also the unanimous choice of the selectmen, Grenier said.
Grenier has said his last day will be Fri., March 2.
According to a Jan. 20 article in the Knoxville News Sentinel, Bolling, 38, was hired as Oliver Springs’ first city manager in September 2006. His resignation from the position is effective Feb. 17.
A former Anderson County commissioner, Bolling was the Democratic nominee for Anderson County mayor in 2010, according to the article. He lost the election.
According to Bolling’s public LinkedIn profile, he was a bank executive before entering the public service arena.
