Newcastle will pay 2.47 percent more to educate high-school students next year if voters approve the 2014-2015 secondary education budget.
The budget totals $1,060,782, an increase of $25,563.
Newcastle expects to have 70 students in grades nine through 12 next year, according to the Central Lincoln County School System.
Newcastle voters will decide whether to approve the secondary education budget at a future town meeting.
The meeting will also address Newcastle’s adult education budget. The town will contribute $6,402 to the Central Lincoln County Adult Education budget, an increase of $125 or 1.99 percent, if voters approve the budget proposal.
Newcastle will vote on the elementary education budget separately at the annual meeting of the Great Salt Bay Consolidated School District.
