Topsham contractor Harry C. Crooker & Sons Inc. will pave the Newcastle side of Cochran Road in the weeks ahead at a cost of $119,218.75.
Cochran Road extends from Route 1 in Edgecomb to its intersection with Island and Station roads in South Newcastle. The contractor will pave from the Edgecomb-Newcastle line to the end of the road.
The deadline for the contractor to complete the work is Oct. 30.
The town of Newcastle will pay for the work out of its 2014-2015 roads budget. The town plans to use some of the balance of this budget to perform stopgap repairs on North Newcastle Road.
The Newcastle Board of Selectmen unanimously voted to authorize Newcastle Town Administrator Lynn Maloney to sign a contract with Crooker Monday, Sept. 8.
