The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency has arrested a 28-year-old Newcastle woman for allegedly trafficking heroin.
Nichole L. Brackett was allegedly selling 25-milligram bags of heroin, which sell for $25-$30 apiece, Maine Drug Enforcement Agency Supervisor Jim Pease said. “We seized heroin during our investigation,” Pease said.
Brackett faces a class A charge of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs, a felony. A class A charge carries a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and a $50,000 fine.
The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested Brackett around 11-11:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 16. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.
The arrest follows “a few weeks” of investigation into heroin sales in the Damariscotta and Waldoboro area, Pease said.
