Following an executive session in the high school library Monday evening, the Wiscasset School Board voted unanimously to hire Cheri Towle, of Newcastle, to be the new Wiscasset High School Principal.
Towle, has served as the principal of Mount View High School in Thorndike for the past three years. She will be complete her duties there June 30.
Towle said she is very excited to take on the job in Wiscasset. She said she is looking forward to working with the staff, community, and students to create proficiency based systems that allows all students to pursue their passions and develop the skills necessary to be successful after high school.
Towle, and her husband Jason, have lived in Newcastle for the past 20 years, and have three children in school.
She is a graduate of the University of Maine, where she majored in education and biology. She has a Master’s in educational leadership from the University of New England. She is also a national board certified teacher in physical science. She has spent 21 years in teaching and leadership positions.
