Firefighters from Newcastle and Damariscotta responded to a chimney fire at the Newcastle Publick House shortly after 4 p.m. today.
The fire was quickly contained. As of this posting there is no word as to a possible cause.
Publick House owner Alex Nevens said the popular restaurant would likely remain closed for the evening but he expects to reopen for business as usual Sunday morning.
