The Nobleboro home of Jim Maxmin and Shoshanna Zuboff was destroyed by fire Thursday night after it was struck by lightning around 11:40 p.m.
The Morang Cove Road home was fully involved when firefighters arrived on scene according to Nobleboro chief Mike Martin. The family escaped without injury.
Martin estimates the large home was about 5000 square feet in size and was built about 14 years ago. All that remains is a large chimney, charred posts and iron beams.
Fire departments from 12 towns helped battle the blaze. Martin estimates there were 75 firemen on scene. Fire departments were still knocking down hot spots at 8 a.m. today. Martin said he expects they will be on scene mopping up at least until noontime.
According to the 2008 Nobleboro Town Report, the property was valued at $1,207,000.
