Wiscasset School Supt. Jay McIntire has announced his resignation and confirmed his intention to accept a comparable position in New Hampshire.
McIntire was a candidate for the superintendent position of the Sheepscot Valley Regional School Unit, which includes the Lincoln County towns of Wiscasset, Westport Island, Alna and Whitefield. On Thursday night, the RSU board appointed Greg Potter to the superintendent’s position.
As superintendent in Wiscasset for the past three years, McIntire has worked with the school system on the transition to the RSU structure. Now he will be working with School Administrative Unit 3 comprising Tamworth, Madison, and Freedom, N.H.
“The communities there have been supportive of education, and it seems like a good opportunity,” McIntire said.
