A winter storm that moved into Lincoln County on Sun. morning left over 4 inches of snowfall before leaving late Sun. afternoon, according to reports.
No major incidents were reported in Lincoln County, according to the Lincoln County Communications Center (LCCC). There were scattered reports of vehicles off the road and minor traffic collisions.
The timing of the storm on a weekend day was fortunate for commuters and school administrators — but school children may have felt the timing was slightly less advantageous.
National Weather Service (NWS) reports on Sun. at 9:28 a.m. from Bristol and Jefferson measured 4.5 inches of snowfall accumulation at both locations as snow continued to blanket the area. The final totals for those areas have not yet been received. NWS observer Arlene Cole in Newcastle reported a total accumulation of 4.5 inches for that area after the storm had passed on Sun. evening.
Residents reported some minor flooding in low spots of the municipal parking lot in Damariscotta near drains that lead to the river. A moon tide combined with storm surge added between 0.5 to 1.0 feet of additional height to the morning high tide of 11.8 feet, according to NWS estimates.
