An eastward bend in the track of a weather system approaching Lincoln County may mean more snowfall for the area on Fri., April 1 than originally forecast, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
The eastward turn is forecast to pull in cold Arctic air from the north as the system rotates counter-clockwise from the North Atlantic.
On Friday morning all weather models indicated the distinct possibility of a slushy mix of wet snow in various states of road impact, depending on geographic relation to the warmer coastal temperatures. Lincoln County peninsulas may see an all rain event, while the Dresden highlands may see 8 inches of snow, according to combined forecasts.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has upgraded a Winter Weather Advisory to a Winter Storm Warning for Maine coastal areas. Originally the forecast called for only a minor impact on Maine coastal areas.
The timing of the precipitation and early morning low temps may combine to make for a messy morning commute on Friday.
The Winter Weather Warning is in effect until 10 p.m. on Friday. The Lincoln County News will continue to follow the progress of this event and post any additional information here as soon as it becomes available.
