Schools and many businesses were closed on Monday as the latest snowstorm to visit Lincoln County pummeled the area with high winds and heavy snowfall. Temps in the single digits and sustained winds of 10 to 20 mph out of the north combined to bring on wind chills in the sub zero range. Snowfall, heavy at times, continued into the evening hours, according to the National Weather Service.
There were few reports of storm related traffic incidents, according to the Lincoln County Emergency Management Agency, perhaps an indicator that residents are sheltering in place and staying off snow covered roadways. There have been no reports of power outages in Lincoln County, according to Central Maine Power.
Temps stayed well below the freeze line, so the event produced “light and fluffy” snowfall, with “8 to 12 inches” of accumulation forecast by the NWS.
Coastal areas of Lincoln County were forecast to see higher winds and snowfall totals than inland areas, according to forecasters.
The Lincoln County News will continue to follow the progress of this event and post any additional information here as soon as it is obtained.
